Count words, track character limits, clean duplicate lines, format case, and process text in real time with complete privacy.

Small jobs that eat more time than they should

Nobody plans to spend twenty minutes counting words, fixing capital letters or hunting repeated lines in a list. These jobs arrive in the middle of other work: an essay with a word limit, a product list pasted together from three spreadsheets, a heading typed in the wrong case. The tools on this page do those jobs in seconds, in your browser, for free and with no sign-up.

They are deliberately plain. You paste text in, the change happens, you copy the result out.

Which text tool should you use?

For limits, the distinction is simple. Use the Word Counter to check essay and article length when the rule is about words — an assignment brief, an article target, a speech that has to run a certain length. Use the Character Counter for posts, forms and meta text when the rule is about characters, which is the count that matters for social posts, SMS messages, form fields and search descriptions that get cut off mid-sentence.

For casing, use the Case Converter to fix capitalisation in seconds instead of retyping. The choice inside it matters more than people think. Title Case, where each main word is capitalised, suits headings and titles. Sentence case, with only the first word and proper names capitalised, reads better in normal paragraphs and is what most modern style guides prefer for subheadings. Shouting in ALL CAPS is rarely the answer, and converting a whole document out of it by hand is nobody's idea of work.

Lists are the other recurring mess. When you have merged names, emails or products from more than one source, run the result through Remove Duplicate Lines to clean a merged list — duplicates creep in exactly at the joins. Then put the list in an order you can scan with the Line Sorter to alphabetise lines. The Text Reverser to flip text backwards is the odd one out: mostly a curiosity, and occasionally exactly what a puzzle, a test string or a formatting check needs.

Two tools people forget are here

Drafting a design, a form or a page layout and need stand-in text that is not your real content yet? The Lorem Ipsum Generator for placeholder text gives you dummy paragraphs so you can judge the layout without being distracted by the words.

And when a signup asks for a stronger password than the one you reuse everywhere, the Password Generator for a strong random password makes one properly. Length does most of the work — a long password you store in a password manager beats a short, clever one you can remember.

One habit worth picking up

Clean text at the point you receive it, not later. Deduplicate the list when it is pasted together, fix the casing when the heading is written, count the characters before you press post. Every one of these tools takes under a minute; the same fixes by hand, after the fact, do not.
